Terms of Service
Practice policies, licensing requirements, and telehealth agreements.
Effective Date: August 1, 2026
Welcome to EmpoweringU Counseling & Therapeutic Services, LLC. By accessing our website, booking a consultation, or engaging in telehealth counseling or mental coaching, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms of Service.
1. Virtual Telehealth Licensing Boundaries
Under state licensing regulations, virtual mental health counseling/psychotherapy services are legally restricted strictly to clients who are physically located in the states of Georgia or Florida at the exact time of the therapy session. We cannot legally conduct clinical therapy sessions if you are located in another state. Non-clinical mental performance coaching services are not bound by these geographic restrictions.
2. Telehealth Technology Requirements
To participate in secure virtual telehealth sessions, you are responsible for providing:
- A stable, secure internet connection.
- A computer, laptop, or mobile device equipped with a working camera and microphone.
- A private, quiet setting free of distractions to protect your confidentiality during the session.
3. Appointments & 24-Hour Cancellation Policy
We reserve your session slot exclusively for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, you must provide at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations or reschedules made less than 24 hours in advance will result in a standard full-session cancellation fee. This fee is not covered by insurance and must be paid privately.
4. Insurance, Billing & Client Responsibility
We provide direct insurance billing for in-network providers. It is your responsibility to verify your health insurance coverage, copays, and deductibles before starting therapy. If your insurance provider denies payment for any reason, you are ultimately responsible for payment of all service fees.
5. Termination of Care
You have the right to withdraw from therapy at any time. We also reserve the right to terminate care if client needs exceed our clinical scope of practice, in which case we will provide appropriate professional referrals.
6. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia and the State of Florida. Any legal actions or proceedings must be initiated in these jurisdictions.
